Bert Smith Incorporated specializes in the delivery of specialist conveyancing and other ancillary services to its extended client base. The company does not only handle the run of the mill conveyancing work but also specializes in the opening of Townships registers, Sectional Title Schemes, Servitudes and other legal work pertaining to property law. The firm is on all the major bank panels being FNB, ABSA, STANDARD BANK and NEDBANK which in its self better facilitates the expeditious registration of our transactions. We pride ourselves on the quality of our work ethic and strive to deliver services that cannot be matched. In doing so we have built a reputation as a formidable role player in the Pretoria property market.

Staff Structure

The company currently employees 17 members of staff. Our Office Manager and Bookkeeper Mrs. Bower sees to the effective management of both accounting and administrative functions within the firm. Mr Vic Swanepoel is a senior Notary and Conveyancer who attends to all matters relating to the registration of Deeds in all the Deeds Offices in the country. His extensive knowledge relating to the drafting of specialized notarial and other deeds has served our clients well over the years.

Bert Smith

Bert Smith read law at the University of Pretoria and obtained a BLC and LLB degree from the said university. He articled with the firm Klagsbrun De Vries and was admitted as an attorney in 1997. In 1997 Mr Smith started to practice for own account under Bert smith Attorneys at the current premises of the firm situated at 9 Lauriston Place, Glen Lauriston, Pretoria, which comprises a floorspace of 950m². Mr Smith heads the conveyancing division of the practice and he is assisted by Mr Vic Swanepoel. Bert Smith has over the years build up a substantial commercial client base. He has negotiated, drafted and concluded numerous commercial agreements relating to the acquisition and finance of Shopping Centres and other aspects related thereto. He has of late concluded on behalf of one of his clients, a 2,5 Billion Rand relating to the sale of one his client’s shopping centres.

We have over the years build up a very strong association with MG Phatudi Attorneys in Polokwane. Within this association we have completed the transfer of 3339 units to the respective beneficiaries within a period of six months on behalf of the Limpopo Local Government. We are a level 2 contributor.
